The aim of this workshop is to discuss the needs and visions for a
general circulation model that is suitable for climate research and
numerical weather prediction at the same time. Deutscher Wetterdienst
(DWD) and MPI for Meteorology are starting the development of a new
such GCM including a new dynamical core, and we would like to
exchange opinions on what will be required in models for NWP and
